I absolutely love S’mores. I mean seriously who doesn’t love s’mores. Actually, having said this, my brother might not enjoy them since he does not like chocolate. I am not kidding you… and yes, we are related… Anyways, I was introduced to the real deal campfire s’mores when I traveled to the US for the first time. I was a teenager back then. Time does fly by because it seems like half an eternity ago. My German hometown and College Station, Texas were sister cities, and I was fortunate to participate in an exchange program between the two cities. One night, the hosts made a camp fire, and they had s’mores. Oh, I loved them… the s’mores and the hosts for introducing this delicious dessert to me. To contribute to this cultural exchange, I thought I would introduce them to bread on a stick aka “Stockbrot” which is bread dough wrapped around a stick and then baked over the fire. Lots of fun…
I always look for a new twist on s’mores. This dip fits the bill. It is like a s’more yet it’s a dip. Genius. Needless to say, it is incredibly delicious and as a bonus, it is simple to make as well. You can make individual small dips or one bigger one for every one to share. I am a big sucker for individual desserts. There is something fun about mini versions of a dessert. This also allows you to put any leftovers in the fridge for a later time (as if that would happen… )
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 ½ cups mini marshmallows, divided
- graham crackers for dipping
In a medium saucepan, combine the chocolate chips with the milk and 1 cup of the mini marshmallows. Over low to medium heat, let the chocolate melt while continuously stirring. Continue to cook until smooth or leave some marshmallow chunks.
Transfer the chocolate mix into one or several small baking dishes. Top with the remaining marshmallows. Place under the broiler until the marshmallows begin to brown.
Serve immediately with graham crackers for dipping.
Recipe from Bakeaholic Mama
- 1 Tasse Schokoladenstückchen (1 Tasse = 240 ml)
- 2 EL Milch
- 1 ½ Tassen Mini-Marshmallows
