German Sweet Milk Soup with Pasta – Milchnudeln

Posted on | March 9, 2013 | 4 Comments

If you have kids and you have never tried this recipe, don’t wait any longer. Your kids are going to love this meal. Traditionally, this soup is eaten as a main dish for lunch or dinner. It is very filling but I can imagine this as a sweet side dish or maybe dessert.

Milchnudeln are a traditional German dish. Even though it is mainly made for kids, it won’t keep adults from loving this as well. In adults, this will bring back childhood memories. :-)

German Sweet Milk Soup with Pasta

Ingredients

  • fine, small pasta (small types like alphabet pasta or filini)
  • milk
  • sugar or honey

Directions

Unlike most of my recipes, this one does not mention any measurements. Just estimate the amount of pasta and milk and adjust later. Some people like this soup thin, others thicker more like a pudding. If the soup is too thin for your taste, just cook a little longer. If it’s too thick just add more milk.

Pour the milk into a pan, preferably a double boiler. Bring the milk to a boil while continuously whisking. Add the pasta and cook until the pasta becomes soft. Don’t stop stirring. The milk should become thicker at this point. If it hasn’t continue to cook it a little longer. Add some sugar to taste.

A variation is to serve it with cinnamon sugar on top.

Guten Appetit!

Milchnudeln

Zutaten

  • kleine Nudelsorten (wie z.B. Buchstabennudeln oder Filini)
  • Milch
  • Zucker oder Honig

Zubereitung

Guten Appetit!
