Indian Mango Relish

I am a huge fan of sweet sauces, relishes or salsa served with meat dishes. This Mango Relish will add a wonderful sweet flavour to whatever dish you decide to serve it with. I opted for some easy, grilled chicken to go with it. The flavours worked really well together. This is such a delicious, simple, and quick dish.

Indian Mango Relish

Ingredients

  • 1 large ripe mango, about 1 1/4 lb
  • 1 garlic clove, grated
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 fresh red chili, seeded and finely chopped
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of sugar

Directions

Finely chop the flesh of the mango and put it in a bowl. Then mash it with a fork.

Add the garlic, onion, ginger, chili, salt, and sugar and combine all the ingredients. Let it sit for about 15 to 30 minutes.

I chose to make grilled chicken kebabs for this relish. Simple cut chicken meat into cubes and marinate it in olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Thread the chicken onto skewers and grill it.

Arrange the chicken on a plate and along with a small bowl of mango relish.

Indisches Mango-Relish

Zutaten

  • 1 groβe reife Mango, ungefähr 1 1/4 lb / 563 g
  • 1 Knoblauchzehe, zerrieben
  • 1 kleine Zwiebel, klein geschnitten
  • 2 TL frisch geriebener Ingwer
  • 1 frische Chilischote, Kerne entfernt und klein geschnitten
  • eine Prise Salz
  • eine Prise Zucker

Zubereitung

Das Mangofruchtfleisch klein schneiden und in eine Schüssel geben. Das Fruchtfleisch dann mit einer Gabel zerdrücken.

Die restlichen Zutaten hinzufügen und miteinander vermengen. Für 15 bis 30 Minuten stehen lassen.

Ich habe gegrillte Hühnchenschaschlik dazu gereicht. Sie sind ganz leicht zubereitet. Hühnchenfleisch in Würfel schneiden und in Olivenöl, Zitronensaft, Salz und Pfeffer marinieren lassen. Das Hühnchen auf Schaschlikspieβe stecken und anschlieβend grillen.

    thank you for this easy and yummy recipe. do you think the salsa would go good also with fish?

    @ My Italian Smörgåsbord: Thank you! It would probably go with fish, especially if you like sweet sauces with fish.
