Yogurt Crème Brûlée

Posted on | May 11, 2012 | 7 Comments

Crème Brûlée is a classic French dessert. This recipe, however, is your typical traditional Crème Brûlée recipe; it is made with yogurt. It is a healthy snack or dessert with the amazing caramelized sugar topping of the traditional dessert. I was very excited to be able to use a blow torch to caramelize the sugar. It was fun! You could also broil it in the oven if you do not have a blow torch. The results will probably be similar even though the fun factor is way up there if you use a blow torch… :-D

Ingredients

for 2 ramekins

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup strawberries, cut into small chunks
  • 1/2 cup granola
  • 2 tsp sugar

Directions

In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt with the blueberries, strawberries, and the granola. Fill the yogurt into two ramekins.

Sprinkle one teaspoon of sugar over each ramekin. Caramelize the sugar with a blowtorch by slowly sweeping the flame back and forth. However, if you do not have one, you could also broil the yogurt in the oven until the sugar begins to caramelize.

Let it cool. Guten Appetit!!!

Joghurt Crème Brûlée

Zutaten

für 2 Ramekinförmchen

  • 1 Tasse Griechischen Joghurt
  • 1/2 Tasse Blaubeeren
  • 1/2 Tasse Erdbeeren, in kleine Stücke geschnitten
  • 1/2 Tasse Granola (Haferflocken, Nüsse, Honig vermischt und knusprig gebacken)
  • 2 TL Zucker

Zubereitung

Guten Appetit!!!

@ Jen: Actually, I didn’t use a kitchen torch. I don’t have one of these either. This one came from my husband’s tool collection. So it’s actually his… So maybe you can convince your husband to get one for himself… :-D
By the way, I must’ve had that same smile… hahaha…

Very interesting using that you used Greek yogurt! I definitely want to try this healthier version. We bought a torch last year but haven’t had a chance to use it yet. =D I need to go get yogurt first! Thanks for this delicious and easy recipe!

What a great idea! And so simple to put together too! I’m not a big fruit fan, but I love that this has granola in it!
