Cranberry Sauce

Posted on | November 23, 2011 | No Comments

Cranberry Sauce is a sauce that is traditionally served with turkey on Thanksgiving in the States.  And if I am not mistaken the British serve this sauce with their Christmas Dinner.

Basic Cranberry Sauce is very easy to prepare but there is a lot of room for variation if you want to change things a little.  You can add spices such as nutmeg or cinnamon;  some water can be substituted with orange juice; orange zest can be added, or raisins, almonds, pecans etc…

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 cups fresh cranberries

Wash the cranberries.  In a medium sauce pan, combine the water and sugar and bring to a boil.

Add the cranberries.  Bring to a boil again. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes or until all the berries burst, occasionally stirring.

Let the sauce cool.  It will thicken as it cools.

Guten Appetit!!!
